Today, at Ratnawali Girls’ College – Colombo 08, the third workshop in the Walking Talkies series delved into the fascinating world of film language! Despite the ongoing Ordinary Level exams and school holidays, the students displayed remarkable enthusiasm and unwavering dedication, making the session a resounding success.
The workshop began with a thought-provoking exploration of language itself. We discussed the diverse forms of communication, from spoken languages to computer codes and musical notations, laying the groundwork for understanding how film functions as a unique language.
The directors of the Walking Talkies team, Mr. Ravindu Fernando and Priyan Shanaka, expertly guided the students through the intricacies of film language, explaining how visual elements, sound, and editing work together to convey meaning and evoke emotions. The students’ keen interest and insightful questions demonstrated their growing understanding of cinematic storytelling.

Their collaboration is invaluable in providing the students with a comprehensive and enriching learning experience.
This workshop marks another step in the students’ journey towards creating their own short films, which will be showcased at a film festival at the end of the six-month program. We are witnessing their growing passion for cinema and their developing ability to communicate through the language of film.

අද, කොළඹ රත්නාවලී බාලිකා විද්යාලයේදී, Walking Talkies වැඩසටහන් මාලාවේ, “අපේ ඉස්කෝලේ ෆිල්ම් Workshopඑක” තුන්වන වැඩමුළුව ‘චිත්රපට භාෂාව’ කේන්ද්ර කර ගනිමින් පැවැත්වීය. එය සිත් ඇදගන්නාසුළු අවස්තාවක් විය. සාමාන්ය පෙළ විභාග සහ පාසල් නිවාඩු තිබියදීත්, සිසුන් කැපී පෙනෙන උද්යෝගයක් සහ නොසැලෙන කැපවීමක් පෙන්නුම් කළ අතර, සැසිය අති සාර්ථක විය.
වැඩමුළුව ආරම්භ වූයේ ලෝකය තුල භාෂාවන් පිළිබඳව දරුවන්ගේ සිතුවිලි අවුස්සන ගවේශනාත්මක බවක් සමගිනි. මානව කථන සහ සංඥා භාෂාවල සිට පරිගණක කේත භාෂා සහ සංගීත අංකන භාෂා දක්වා විවිධ සන්නිවේදන භාෂා ආකාර සාකච්ඡා කළ අතර, චිත්රපටය තුල රූප සහ ශබ්ද භාවිතය අද්විතීය භාෂාවක් ලෙස ක්රියා කරන ආකාරය දරුවන්ට තේරුම් ගැනීමට අඩිතාලම දැමුවෙමු.
Walking Talkies කණ්ඩායමේ අධ්යක්ෂවරුන් වන රවිඳු ප්රනාන්දු සහ ප්රියාන් ශානක මහතා, චිත්රපට භාෂාවේ යනු කුමම්ද වටහා ගැනීමට සිසුන්ට දක්ෂ ලෙස මඟ පෙන්වූ අතර, දෘශ්ය අංග, ශබ්දය සහ සංස්කරණය මගින් සන්නිවේදනය කිරීමට සහ හැඟීම් සම්ප්රේෂණය කිරීමට භාවිත කරන ආකාරය පැහැදිලි කළහ. සිසුන්ගේ දැඩි උනන්දුව සහ පරිකල්පනීය සංවාද මගින් සිනමාත්මක කතන්දර කීම පිළිබඳ ඔවුන්ගේ අවබෝධය වර්ධනය වනබව අපට වැටහිණි.

මෙම වැඩසටහන තවදුරටත් වැඩිදියුණු කිරීමට සහ සිසුන්ට හැකි උපරිම ඉගෙනුම් අත්දැකීමක් ලබා දීමට අපි අතිරේක සම්පත් දායකයින් සොයමින් සිටිමු.
